Mack, Kenworth, Freightliner and International Truck ECU Solutions: EMS2, ETC3, HDEP MCM

American truck brands share engines and ECUs with their European group companies: Mack is part of the Volvo group, Kenworth belongs to Paccar like DAF, and Freightliner is part of Daimler. So the ECUs are familiar: the TRW Volvo EMS2 on Mack, the Delphi ETC3 on Kenworth and the Continental HDEP MCM on Freightliner. Solutions are available at ECU Prime on these ECUs.
Which brand, which ECU?
- Mack, TRW Volvo EMS2.2, EMS2.3 and EMS2.4: Stage 1.
- Kenworth, Delphi ETC3: Stage 1 (Paccar MX engine).
- Freightliner, Continental HDEP MCM: Stage 1 and AdBlue / SCR (Detroit DD engine).
- International, Bosch EDC17CV42, EDC7C32 and Continental SID903: Stage 1, Stage 1 + EGR, emission package and EGR solution.
Their European siblings
For the same ECUs see our Volvo FH, DAF XF and Mercedes Actros articles.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- AdBlue / SCR warning, NOx sensor failure and derate
- DPF loading and endless regeneration in city and short runs
- Sooted EGR valve and cooler
- Weak pulling on loaded climbs and high fuel use
How it works
- Reading: upload the original file read with your tool, or visit one of our locations.
- Calibration: the file is prepared for the exact engine and ECU software version, checksum corrected; the original is archived.
- Application and check: fault scan and run / road test after writing.
Workshops get the same solutions through the ECU Prime file service.
Emission-related software is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (off-road / closed-site use, racing, export, diagnostics); road use and inspection compliance are the owner’s responsibility.
