Volvo FH and FM Truck ECU Solutions: EMS2.2, EMS2.3 and EMS2.4

The Volvo FH and FM are among the most popular tractor units in long-haul and construction fleets. The engine ECU comes from TRW’s EMS2 family, and on Euro 6 after-treatment runs on a separate ACM. Solutions for Volvo trucks are available at ECU Prime on both.
Which ECU does your Volvo use?
- TRW EMS2.3 and EMS2.2: Stage 1, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR and emission package.
- TRW EMS2.4: Stage 1, Stage 2, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR and emission package.
- EMS2.3 ACM: AdBlue, DPF, EGR and emission package on the after-treatment ECU.
- EMS2, Lucas and Bosch EDC7C1-C2: Stage 1 on older generations.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- AdBlue / SCR warning, NOx sensor failure and derate
- DPF loading and endless regeneration in city and short runs
- Sooted EGR valve and cooler
