Ford EcoBoost Chip Tuning: Stage 1 on 1.0 and 1.5 EcoBoost with Bosch MG1 and MED17

EcoBoost is Ford’s turbo petrol family: the three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost in the Focus, Fiesta and Puma, and the 1.5 and 1.6 EcoBoost in the Kuga and Focus. Earlier engines use the Bosch MED17, newer ones the Bosch MG1 family. Stage 1 and Stage 2 files are available at ECU Prime on these ECUs.
Which ECU does your EcoBoost use?
- Bosch MED17.0.1 and MED17.2.2: earlier EcoBoost. Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and speed limit (Vmax).
- Bosch MG1CS016: new-generation EcoBoost. Stage 1, Stage 2, gasoline particulate filter (GPF / OPF), lambda and emission package.
- Bosch MG1CS017 and MG1CS019: Stage 1, Stage 2 and speed limit; Stage 3 on the MG1CS019.
Is Stage 1 safe on the 1.0 EcoBoost?
Stage 1 is written to stay within the stock turbo and fuel system limits; engine temperature and knock protection remain active. Engine pages: Focus 1.0 EcoBoost Stage 1, Focus 1.5 EcoBoost Stage 1, Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost Stage 1. Models: Focus, Puma, Fiesta and Kuga.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
How it works
- Reading: upload the original file read with your tool, or visit one of our locations.
- Calibration: the file is prepared for the exact engine and ECU software version, checksum corrected; the original is archived.
- Application and check: fault scan and run / road test after writing.
Workshops get the same solutions through the ECU Prime file service.
Emission-related software is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (off-road / closed-site use, racing, export, diagnostics); road use and inspection compliance are the owner’s responsibility.
