BMW G Series Diesel 320d, 520d Chip Tuning: AdBlue, DPF, EGR on EDC17C50, EDC17C56 and MD1

The BMW G series diesels use the 2.0 litre B47 and 3.0 litre B57 (320d, 520d, X3 20d / 30d, X5 30d). In the transition years these engines use the Bosch EDC17C50 and EDC17C56; later years bring the locked MD1 ECUs. Solutions for both periods are available at ECU Prime.
Which ECU, which operation?
- Bosch EDC17C50: Stage 1, Stage 2, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR, lambda, swirl (TVA), emission package; combined Stage 1 + AdBlue and Stage 1 + DPF + EGR files.
- Bosch EDC17C56: Stage 1, Stage 2, EGR and emission package.
- Bosch MD1CS001 and MD1CP002: Stage 1, AdBlue, DPF, EGR on new B47 / B57. See our BMW B47 and B57 MD1 article.
- ZF 8HP: gearbox Stage 1 and Stage 2.
Models: 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, X5.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- DPF loading and endless regeneration in city driving
- Sooted EGR valve and cooler, loss of pulling power
- AdBlue / SCR warning and NOx sensor failure
- Boost pressure fault and limp mode

How it works
- Reading: upload the original file read with your tool, or visit one of our locations.
- Calibration: the file is prepared for the exact engine and ECU software version, checksum corrected; the original is archived.
- Application and check: fault scan and run / road test after writing.
Workshops get the same solutions through the ECU Prime file service.
Emission-related software is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (off-road / closed-site use, racing, export, diagnostics); road use and inspection compliance are the owner’s responsibility.
