About the Ford 1.0 EcoBoost (three-cylinder)
The 1.0 EcoBoost is the three-cylinder turbo petrol of the Fiesta, Focus, B-Max, C-Max, Puma, EcoSport and Kuga, offered from 100 to 155 hp. Despite its small capacity it is known for strong torque and an award-winning design.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost 100hp
Stage 1 recalibrates boost, ignition and fuelling. Low-rev torque fills out noticeably; the 100 and 125 hp versions in particular can approach the level of the higher output that shares the same hardware. Exhaust temperature and knock limits are preserved.
Pre-remap checklist
- Cooling system: expansion tank, hoses and coolant level, the known sensitive point of this engine.
- The timing belt runs in oil, so oil changes must be up to date.
- Ignition coils and spark plugs.
- Boost leaks.
This section is based on Prime Chiptuning workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
