Scania R and S Series ECU Solutions: AdBlue, DPF, EGR on EMD1 and EMS S6 / S7 / S8

The Scania R and S series are long-haul fleet favourites. The engine is managed by the EMS family and after-treatment (AdBlue, DPF) by a separate controller, the EMD1 or EEC3. Solutions for Scania are available at ECU Prime on both.
Which ECU does your Scania use?
- Continental EMD1: AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR and emission package on the after-treatment ECU.
- EMS S6 and EMS S7: AdBlue / SCR and EGR.
- EMS S8 and EMS8: Stage 1 and Stage 1 + EGR.
- Scania EEC3 and MD1: AdBlue / SCR, Stage 1 and emission package.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- AdBlue / SCR warning, NOx sensor failure and derate
- DPF loading and endless regeneration in city and short runs
- Sooted EGR valve and cooler
