Renault Megane, Kadjar 1.6 dCi and 1.3 TCe Chip Tuning: EDC17C84, SID321 and EMS3161

After the 1.5 dCi, the two most asked-about Renault engines are the 1.6 dCi and the 1.3 TCe. The 1.6 dCi in the Megane, Kadjar, Talisman and Scenic uses the Bosch EDC17C84; newer dCi engines use the Continental SID321; the 1.3 TCe petrol uses the Continental EMS3161. Solutions are available at ECU Prime on these ECUs.
Which ECU does your Renault use?
- Bosch EDC17C84: 1.6 dCi. Stage 1, Stage 2, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR, lambda, swirl (TVA), emission package; combined Stage 1 + DPF + EGR files.
- Continental SID321: new-generation dCi. Stage 1, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR, emission package and Stage 1 + AdBlue.
- Continental EMS3161 and EMS3141: TCe petrol engines. Stage 1, gasoline particulate filter (GPF / OPF) and DTC editing.
For the 1.5 dCi see our Renault 1.5 dCi article, for the 1.5 Blue dCi our MD1CS006 article. Models: Megane, Kadjar, Talisman, Captur, Clio.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- DPF loading and endless regeneration in city driving
- Sooted EGR valve and cooler, loss of pulling power
- AdBlue / SCR warning and NOx sensor failure
- Boost pressure fault and limp mode

How it works
- Reading: upload the original file read with your tool, or visit one of our locations.
- Calibration: the file is prepared for the exact engine and ECU software version, checksum corrected; the original is archived.
- Application and check: fault scan and run / road test after writing.
Workshops get the same solutions through the ECU Prime file service.
Emission-related software is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (off-road / closed-site use, racing, export, diagnostics); road use and inspection compliance are the owner’s responsibility.
