FLEX 8.29 and Korhex: VAG Bosch MG1CS011, MG1CS111 and MG1CS163
On 3 November 2026 Magicmotorsport announced FLEX 8.29.0.0. Korhex support now extends to the TC298-based Bosch MG1CS011, MG1CS111 and MG1CS163 ECUs used in the VAG Group.

What has changed?
These ECUs were already supported through Voltage Fault Injection (VFI). They can now also be unlocked with Korhex without working on the PCB, which shortens connection time and simplifies the procedure. After the unlock, reading and writing continue in Bench mode without reopening the ECU.
New protocol organisation
FLEX 8.29 separates protocols by technology: Boot Glitch lists VFI-based protocols, Korhex lists protocols that use Korhex technology. Each technology has its own procedures and manuals. The manufacturer asks for particular attention to pins A1 and A4.
Technical details
Memories: internal flash read, write and checksum; internal EEPROM read and write; full backup. Licence: FLS0.20 or FLEX Full FLS0.5. Manufacturer times: connection about 30 seconds, reading about 2 minutes 30 seconds, writing about 2 minutes. The announcement lists the Audi A3 8Y (2021, 1.5 35 TFSI MHEV 148 HP) as an example vehicle.

What is the difference between VFI and Korhex?
Both provide Boot Glitch access. With Korhex these ECUs need no work on the PCB; in FLEX 8.29 the two methods are listed under separate protocol headings.
Which licence is needed?
According to the manufacturer, an FLS0.20 licence or a FLEX Full FLS0.5 configuration.
