Fiat AdBlue Fault Solution: MJD9 and EDC17C69 on Egea, Tipo, Doblo, Fiorino Multijet

On new Fiat diesels the most common complaint is AdBlue: the “Have AdBlue system checked” message, the AdBlue lamp and then the countdown. The cause is often the NOx sensor, the AdBlue pump or its heater. AdBlue solutions are available at ECU Prime for the Multijet engine ECUs in the Egea / Tipo, Doblo and Fiorino.
Which Fiat, which ECU?
- Marelli MJD9: 1.3 Multijet (Egea / Tipo, Fiorino, Doblo). AdBlue / SCR, NOx, Stage 1 + AdBlue, DPF, EGR and emission package.
- Bosch EDC17C69: 1.6 Multijet (Egea / Tipo, Doblo). AdBlue / SCR, Stage 1 + AdBlue, DPF, EGR and emission package.
- Bosch EDC17C84: Talento (1.6 dCi based). AdBlue / SCR and Stage 1 + EGR.
- Marelli MJD8 and MJD6: Stage 1, DPF and EGR on earlier 1.3 Multijets without AdBlue.
Why does the AdBlue warning appear?
- NOx sensor failure (most common)
- AdBlue pump or tank heater failure
- Crystallised injector, poor-quality AdBlue
- Left unfixed: countdown and a no-start
For Fiat’s other solutions see our Fiat Egea, Doblo and Fiorino article. Engine page: Egea 1.6 Multijet Stage 1. Models: Egea, Egea Cross, Doblo, Fiorino and Talento.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Service pages: Fiat AdBlue fault solution, DPF fault solution, EGR fault solution.
How it works
- Reading: upload the original file read with your tool, or visit one of our locations.
- Calibration: the file is prepared for the exact engine and ECU software version, checksum corrected; the original is archived.
- Application and check: fault scan and run / road test after writing.
Workshops get the same solutions through the ECU Prime file service.
Emission-related software is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (off-road / closed-site use, racing, export, diagnostics); road use and inspection compliance are the owner’s responsibility.
