After the tank is refilled, the warning goes out by itself on most vehicles. If it stays on after topping up, or the countdown has started, the cause is usually the NOx sensor, pump, heater or level sensor; a reset alone does not last and the warning returns. The gauge and chime come on when the system reads the AdBlue level as low or cannot confirm dosing. If they appear with a full tank, a level sensor, NOx sensor, pump or heater fault is likely.
