About the Mercedes-Benz OM651 2.1 CDI (200 / 220 / 250 CDI, 2008–2018)
The OM651 is the 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel of the post-2008 C, E, GLK, GLC, ML, Vito and Sprinter, offered from 136 to 204 hp. Most versions are twin-turbocharged and the hardware is largely shared across outputs.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 CDI 163hp
Stage 1 recalibrates injection, rail pressure, boost and the torque limiter. The gain is especially clear on the 200 and 220 CDI outputs. A full low-rev torque curve results, matched to the 7G-Tronic or 9G-Tronic gearbox.
Pre-remap checklist
- Injectors and injector seals (Delphi injector issue on early production).
- Timing chain noise and tensioner condition.
- DPF load and, where fitted, the AdBlue system.
- EGR valve and swirl flap mechanism.
This section is based on Prime Chiptuning workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
