VW, Skoda and Cupra 2.0 TDI evo Chip Tuning and AdBlue: Bosch MD1CS004

The VW Group’s new 2.0 TDI evo (EA288 evo) diesel is found in the Golf 8, Passat, Tiguan, Skoda Octavia and Superb and Cupra Formentor. Its ECU is the locked Bosch MD1CS004. Solutions for the MD1CS004 are available at ECU Prime.
What is available on the MD1CS004?
- MD1CS004: Stage 1, AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR, start-stop, speed limit and combined files (VW, Audi, Skoda, Cupra).
- MD1CP061: Stage 1, AdBlue, DPF and emission package on VW and Ford.
Which cars?
Volkswagen Golf, Passat, Tiguan, T-Roc, Skoda Octavia, Superb, Kodiaq and Audi A3. Confirm from the label.
How is it read and written?
The MD1 family ships locked; reading needs the ECU to be unlocked with the right method. Autotuner added bench support after unlock for the MD1CS004 H80 and the new MD1CS104 in June 2026; Magicmotorsport Flex 8.0 and 8.27 (October 2026) unlock the MD1CS004 H80 via boot. Workshops can upload files read with these tools to the ECU Prime file service.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- AdBlue warning and “engine will not start in X km” countdown
- NOx sensor and AdBlue pump / heater failure
- DPF loading and endless regeneration on short trips
