Hyundai and Kia 1.6 CRDi AdBlue Fault Solution: Bosch MD1CS012

The 1.6 CRDi diesel in the Hyundai Tucson, Kona and Kia Sportage now comes with AdBlue (SCR), and its ECU is the locked Bosch MD1CS012. Solutions for the MD1CS012 are available at ECU Prime.
What is available on the MD1CS012?
- AdBlue / SCR: AdBlue warning and countdown faults.
- Emission package: AdBlue, DPF and EGR together; combined with Stage 1 in one file.
- Stage 1 and DTC: power software and fault code editing.
Which cars?
Hyundai Tucson, Kona, i30, Kia Sportage, Ceed, XCeed and Genesis diesels. Confirm from the label.
How is it read and written?
The MD1 family ships locked; reading needs the ECU to be unlocked with the right method. With Magicmotorsport Flex 8.0 the MD1CS012 can be unlocked via boot and read on the bench. Workshops can upload files read with these tools to the ECU Prime file service.
The ECU type depends on model year and engine. The exact type is confirmed from the ECU label or by reading it with a diagnostic tool; send a photo of the label on WhatsApp and we will tell you which file applies.
Common faults
- AdBlue warning and “engine will not start in X km” countdown
- NOx sensor and AdBlue pump / heater failure
- DPF loading and endless regeneration on short trips
- Sooted EGR valve and loss of pulling power
