The Bosch MED17 is an engine control unit used in cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles from makes such as Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford and Mercedes-Benz. Prime Chiptuning always builds MED17 files from the original read of the vehicle; generic files are not used.

How a MED17 remap is done
- The MED17 is read by OBD, bench or boot depending on the variant, and the original software is backed up.
- The original file is modified for the vehicle, engine and requested solution; the checksum is corrected.
- The file is written, fault codes are checked and the vehicle is road tested.
- The original backup is kept, so the vehicle can be returned to factory software at any time.
