ENGINE FAMILY

About the Honda 1.6 / 2.2 i-DTEC and i-CTDi

Honda's own diesels power the Civic, Accord, CR-V and HR-V. The 2.2 i-CTDi (2004–2008) and i-DTEC (2008 onwards) give 140–180 hp, the 1.6 i-DTEC (2013 onwards) 120–160 hp. They are light, efficient aluminium-block engines.

How a Stage 1 remap works on the Honda Civic 2.2 i-DTEC 150hp

Stage 1 recalibrates rail pressure, injection duration and boost. Thanks to Honda's conservative factory tune a clear mid-range torque gain results; the 120 hp 1.6 i-DTEC gains particularly noticeably.

Pre-remap checklist

  • DPF load.
  • EGR valve and intake soot.
  • Boost leaks and intercooler.
  • Dual-mass flywheel and clutch.

This section is based on Prime Chiptuning workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.

Frequently asked questions

How much bhp does Honda Civic 2.2 i-DTEC 150hp chip tuning add?
Catalog reference: power 150 → 185 bhp, difference +35 bhp (23%); torque 350 → 420 Nm. Actual results depend on vehicle condition and measurement.
Will chip tuning damage the engine?
No. Values stay inside the safety margin the manufacturer leaves; engine, gearbox and turbo limits are not exceeded. Every file is verified with a road test and data logging. If the car needs maintenance first (worn injectors, blocked filter, weak clutch) we tell you before starting.
Will my fuel consumption go up?
With the same driving style it usually drops, because you hold the same speed at lower revs and less throttle. If you use the extra power, consumption naturally rises. It is down to your right foot.
How long does it take? Do I leave the car?
Most cars take 1–2 hours and you get the car back the same day; no need to leave it. Some models need the ECU removed, which takes longer — we tell you when booking.
Can I go back to stock later?
Yes. The original file is read and archived before any work. We restore the factory software free of charge whenever you ask.
Does it void my warranty?
Changing engine software can affect the manufacturer warranty. If a dealer finds a fault to be software related, they may refuse that claim. We want you to decide knowing this. Your original file stays with us and can be restored before a dealer visit.
Will it pass the roadworthiness test?
Stage 1 power software does not touch emission hardware. Work on emission systems is offered only for uses permitted by law; road use and inspection compliance remain the owner's responsibility.
How much does Honda Civic 2.2 i-DTEC 150hp chip tuning cost?
Price depends on the vehicle, the ECU and the solution chosen. Send us your vehicle details on WhatsApp and we will quote straight away. Inspection and measurement are free.
How is the work done?
We scan for faults and read the original software first. The file is adapted to your car's hardware, written, and verified on a road test. The original is archived.
What is checked on the Honda Civic 2.2 i-DTEC 150hp before remapping?
Before working on the Honda 1.6 / 2.2 i-DTEC and i-CTDi we check: DPF load. EGR valve and intake soot. Boost leaks and intercooler. Dual-mass flywheel and clutch. If something needs attention, maintenance comes first; the remap is applied to a healthy engine.
⚠ Software work on emission systems is offered only for uses permitted by applicable law (motorsport, off-road use, export, fault diagnosis, etc.). Road use and inspection compliance of the vehicle remain the owner's responsibility.
