Caterpillar 950 Wheel Loader Tuning and Power Upgrade
The Caterpillar 950 is Caterpillar's wheel loader. The engine control unit (ECU) software is recalibrated on the machine's own original file; the original software is backed up.
Caterpillar 950 power remap
A power remap on the Caterpillar 950 recalibrates the fuel quantity, injection timing, boost pressure and torque limiter maps. On a loader the engine feeds both the drivetrain and the bucket hydraulics; with more torque in reserve, rpm drops less when entering the pile and climbing ramps with a full bucket.
Caterpillar 950 AdBlue fault solution
Loaders shuttle back and forth over short distances; the particulate filter (DPF) often fails to reach regeneration temperature and blocks. With an EGR fault or a NOx sensor fault in the AdBlue (SCR) system the machine enters limp mode and loading stops at the quarry or plant. The cause is diagnosed first; the software solution is applied according to the ECU type.
ECU and compatibility for the Caterpillar 950
Services with a verified solution for Caterpillar in our library: Stage 1 Remap and AdBlue / SCR Delete. The control units we work on in Caterpillar machines include CATERPILLAR A5E2V2I1, BOSCH EDC17C49, DENSO DCU and BOSCH EDC17CV54. The same model can carry a different ECU depending on build year and engine option, so we confirm compatibility for the Caterpillar 950 from a photo of the ECU label or from the file read out.
Where is the difference noticed on the Caterpillar 950?
- Entering the pile and filling the bucket
- Climbing ramps and slopes with a full bucket
- Truck loading, where cycle time matters
