The five-cylinder D5 is the characteristic diesel Volvo used in the S60, V60, S80, V70, XC60, XC70 and XC90 from 2001 to 2015; the post-2010 2.0-litre D3 and D4 were derived from the same five-cylinder block. It was offered in single and twin-turbo forms from 136 to 215 hp and is a durable, torque-focused engine.
