BMW X3 G01/08 - 2017+ xDrive20d 163hp — Stage 1 Remap
Stage 1 re-calibrates the ECU software — boost, fuelling and ignition maps — within the factory hardware's safe tolerances. No hardware changes are required.

About the BMW 2.0 diesel (N47 and B47: 116d, 118d, 120d, 318d, 320d, 520d, X1, X3)
BMW's four-cylinder 2.0 diesel is the brand's most common engine, used in the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Series and X1, X3 and X4 as the N47 (2007–2014) and B47 (2014 onwards), from 116 to 231 hp. Hardware is largely shared across outputs.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the BMW X3 G01/08 xDrive20d 163hp
Stage 1 recalibrates rail pressure, injection, boost and the torque limiter. The gain is especially clear on the 116d, 118d, 316d and 318d outputs. A full low-rev torque curve results, matched to the 8-speed automatic; the character moves towards the next output up.
Pre-remap checklist
- Timing chain and tensioner on the N47 (located at the back of the engine, a known issue).
- Swirl flap mechanism and EGR cooler.
- DPF load and, on the B47, the AdBlue system.
- Boost leaks and intercooler hoses.
This section is based on Prime Chiptuning workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
