Renault Premium Tractor Unit Tuning and Power Upgrade

A power remap on the Renault Premium recalibrates the fuel quantity, injection timing, boost pressure and torque limiter maps. On a tractor unit, efficiency is decided by the speed and gear held on a gradient with a loaded trailer; with more torque in reserve there is less downshifting on hills and the engine runs at lower revs. The calibration stays within the safety margin of the engine and driveline.

On long-haul vehicles most complaints come from the emission systems: NOx sensor, pump and heater faults in the AdBlue (SCR) system, a blocked particulate filter (DPF) and EGR faults. With these faults the vehicle goes into reduced-power mode and the trip is interrupted. The source of the fault is diagnosed first; the software solution is applied according to the ECU type.
